Klonaridis Claims Friends Challenge Grand Prix
A successful day at the oche—and another chapter added to the Friends Challenge story.
Sixteen players, including debutant Shaneka Kock, battled at the Kommettieding Arena, Grassy Park Hotel, in the unique Grand Prix format, where every leg must be opened with a double or bull.
Veteran George Klonaridis emerged champion after defeating fellow stalwart Clifford Stradling 6–3 in the final.
Stradling produced one of the day's biggest comebacks in the Top 8, recovering from 3–1 down against debutant Hilton Jeftha to win 6–4. His fightback included two spectacular 160 aways, demonstrating the experience that has made him a Friends Challenge regular.
Joe Sardien was among the statistical standouts, recording the day's highest match average of 76.38, while also hitting the best checkout of 120 and a superb 14-dart leg.
The tournament also welcomed Hilton Jeftha, Ramsey Scritten and Shaneka Kock to the Friends Challenge, adding fresh competition to an already competitive field.
With Klonaridis taking the title and Stradling again reaching a final, the Grand Prix format once again delivered quality darts, big finishes and plenty of excitement.
