The man who edged Paul Simpson 4–3 in the Event 2 final was even more ruthless this time around, finishing the tournament unbeaten and without dropping a leg in his final two encounters.
His route to the title included a commanding 3–0 victory over Robert Blom, followed by a remarkable 3–0 demolition of Paul Simpson in the semi-final. Petersen then completed the job against Arnold Joseph with another 3–0 victory in the Gold Final.
Simpson halted in the semi-final
Paul Simpson again found himself deep in the tournament, but this time the defending Circuit 1 champion and Event 1 winner came up against a Petersen at the top of his game.
Simpson had to work hard earlier in the tournament, edging Richard Murdock 3–2 before defeating Donovan Wyngaard 3–0. He then faced Petersen in a semi-final that promised fireworks — but Petersen produced an extraordinary 83.01 three-dart average to win 3–0.
Simpson nevertheless registered the day's highest checkout, 140, while Arnold Joseph added a 116 and Leon Davids a 100.
Petersen lights up the achievement board
The numbers tell the story.
Petersen recorded the best match average of the tournament at 83.01, with further averages of 79.86 in the last eight and 74.22 in the last 16.
He also produced the two best legs of the event, completing legs in 21 and 22 darts, while Simpson's best leg came in 23 darts.
It was a performance that showed not only consistency but the ability to raise the level when the pressure increased.
Porthen grabs Chef glory
While Petersen ruled the Gold tier, Alister Porthen produced his own breakthrough performance by claiming the Men's Chef title.
Porthen defeated Ashley Jacobs 2–0, then edged Leon Davids 2–1 before overcoming Robert Blom 2–0 in the Chef Final to secure the title.
It was a well-earned reward after a strong run through the Chef field.
The Ladies Tier produced its own competitive battles, with Bahieja Clarke emerging as the champion.
Clarke first overcame Aakifah Karriem 2–1 before defeating Elizabeth Pritchard 2–1 to to claim the Ladies title, adding another winner to the growing list of names making their mark in Circuit 2.
